Why, Water?

Water is the driving force in nature.” ~ Leonardo da Vinci

With the topic of beverages fresh in our minds thanks to Marc and Brish, let's discuss water.

Why, Water? A basic elementary science fact:  All living things require water to survive.  In fact there are many positive facts about water; such as drinking water helps the body flush out toxins.  After a therapeutic body massage the therapist or masseuse informs the client of the importance of drinking water afterward in order to rid the body of toxins.

But really?...Why, Water?  There are so many reasons!  It quenches ones thirst.  It curbs ones appetite.  It hydrates.

For years I purchased my children juices for their school lunches. Last year we switched primarily to water.  I cannot express the importance of  teaching children to remain hydrated at all times.  A good way to start is getting them "used to" drinking water rather than sugary drinks.  Simply purchase less fruit juices and more water.

Non-coincidentally, Michelle Obama just launched a 'Drink More Water' campaign which asks individuals to drink at least one more glass per day.  It also reinforces the health benefits of drinking water.  Learn more about the First Ladies campaign at The Atlantic: Why 'Drink More Water'?
